Local Government and Associations

Your home is your castle. But just as kings and queens had to deal with regents and assemblies, you must deal with local government, and may have to accommodate a homeowners’ association.

Through tree ordinances, permit requirements use restrictions and other legislation, local government may interfere with your use and enjoyment of your home. And if you belong to a homeowners’ association, the association’s actions or inactions can diminish your property’s value or otherwise take a bite out of you pocketbook.

If a problem with local government or a homeowners’ association arises, prudence dictates that you understand your legal rights before taking action. Otherwise, you may say or do something that undermines your position.

If you consult with me before responding to local government or dealing with your homeowners’ association, I can explain your rights to you. Once you understand your rights, I can help you craft a strategy that attempts to solve your problem quickly, efficiently, and with minimal conflict.

Sometimes, despite your best efforts, a local government or homeowners’ association will prove intractable. In that case, you may need to take legal action. If so, I can represent you aggressively and competently in court.
