I charge on an hourly basis.
* In other words, if you consult or otherwise retain me, you will pay me based on the time I spend meeting with you or working on your matter.
My hourly rate ranges from $195 to $250, depending on the type of problem or case and the issues involved.
Because of the extremely high volume of calls I get from prospective clients, I simply cannot give free consultations. Since I do not take credit cards, this means I cannot discuss the details of your case with you over the telephone.
If you call, I will ask you generally what type of problem or case you have (such as landlord-tenant, purchase and sale, etc.) so that I can quote you an hourly fee. You will then have to decide if, given the nature of your legal problem, it makes financial sense to schedule an appointment.
If my fee is acceptable and you wish to schedule an appointment, I will then discuss a mutually convenient time for us to meet. I am generally available between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm, but will try to meet you a little earlier or later if necessary.
You must pay me for the time we spend together at the end of our initial consultation. Unfortunately, because a small but not insubstantial number of people write bad checks, the first payment must be in cash or by certified check. If we work together after the initial consultation, I will send you an invoice at the end of each month describing in detail the services I rendered during that month.
Once again, please understand that I cannot discuss the details of your problem or dispute when you call me. Due to the number of calls I get, spending more than a moment with each potential new client would result in my spending hours a day on the phone generating no revenue. I would then have to raise my hourly rates, which, by no means inexpensive, are much, much lower than the average rate for lawyers in Los Angeles with my education, knowledge and experience.
